Initial thoughts

This project has really appealed to my interests. I think the kind of style and subject matter appealing to me will make it very easy for me to do this project. After the meeting I thought that the main thing the client stressed she wanted in the project was the style of the joke hammer horror. This gives me some very clear ideas of how I will go about doing this project. Although she was very particular about the style it seemed less important of what was included in the poster. Or at least that she was less sure. There were a few things that were suggested could be included in the poster. Putting in one or two of these things I think will greatly improve my design and chances of winning. It is set as a compotition and the work will be displayed over hereford so I need to think about what will put me out against the rest.

Things that are needed or suggested are:
  • (essential) The play is in a similar style to "Shawn of the Dead"/ mock zombie/ hammer horror/ faux horror, and the poster should reflect this.
  • (essential) The design needs to be displayed across the country, and may be seen by young people so must not be too terrifying for public display.
  • (essential) Design will need to work in portrait layout for A5, A4 and A3 posters.
  • (essential) There must be space on the design for Heritage Loterry logo (sponsers), Courtyard logo, production title, dates, times, ticket prices and Box Office/ ticketing info.
  • (desirable) David Garrick may appear somewhere in the poster (there are many images available of him online)
  • (desirable) Could include some of the actors and actresses from Garrick's time are in the scipt such as Susanna Cibber, Margaret "Peg" Woffington, William Shakespeare and James Quin portrayed as a zombie.
  • (desirable) The play is set in, and based on the theme of a theatre.
  • (desirable) The play commemorates Hereford's theatrical history.
